Thurs morn

Good Morning!
It's Thursday- day 4.
Yesterday went about as expected.
They seem to have found a combo of meds that are working for the pain.
He walked across the hall and back last night.
He is also doing his rehab exercises a lot.
I will look over and he will be moving his head or knees.
When I ask if he's OK he says,'I'm just doing my exercises.'
He's really owning his progress.
He knows all of his meds, when he should take them and which ones he reacts to.
We got 2 stretches of 'mommy sleep' last night.
Mommy sleep is what my friends call it when you sleep for a while, your child wakes you up for something, then you go back to sleep.
Usually its a glass of water, not pain meds, but the same idea applies.
He actually watched TV last night.
He was commenting on the news.
It's good to see him come back little by little.
They are stopping his external pacemaker today.
They changed his diet.
These are all progress steps and good signs.
They are all blessings, and I believe, answered prayers.
The food thing is still a challenge.
Today will be a lot of 'putting him through his paces,' Dr Schier says.
It is also the day Saint Lynsey leaves.
Prayers today for continued milestones, control of pain, and safe travels for Lyns back to MN.
Special prayers of thanks for all of the support we feel.
God is Good!
Val

  1. Val - glad to see you are 'writing that book!' And so good to hear Adam is progressing well. Bummer that Lynsey has to leave - I can only imagine how much of a support she has been to you & to Adam. Won't be much longer & you'll be taking your baby home... any differences btwn this time & the last... aside from the fact that he weighs 150+ pounds more... maybe John can help carry him in & put him in his crib... err, bed... :-)
Love you both - sending you lots of prayers & good thoughts!

  2. Val- just a deep sigh for so far, so much in such a short time. It's good we don't know tomorrow, for a month ago the answer would have been, "I don't think so". I don't remember Adam's favorite food. I am so glad Lynsey has been there. I am so glad for our family and your and Adams network of wonderful family and friends. There's the song about "when God's people pray..." Love to both of you, and strength and stamina too. Beth

I am sure the positives will still be coming in little and big steps every day. Keep offering my cooking - maybe he will take you up on the good food. love you boo

  5. Adam & Val,
This is Cory...(one of Adam's friends at work) my wife and I have been praying for you everyday. You made it through...I know you'll be more thankful than you have ever been, your journey has been an inspiration to all of us...one thing about you that we can always depend on, is your tenacious spirit of wanting your way, I'm sure that is something God is tapping into now to insure your speedy recovery. This is the only time I will say it's ok for you to be stubborn! LOL. Sounds like you have a GREAT mom, I miss mine ~ so please cherish yours...
    Get well soon,
    Cory
